Our “Adopt To Your Home” Program

You always wanted a dog. These days you have a home, sufficient time, and the financial means to consider adopting a Sasha Dog.

How does it work?

We prepare a limited number of carefully selected dogs for adoption in Switzerland.

And we have to admit, we have a penchant for senior dogs. A senior human for example, together with a senior dog, tend to be a team made in heaven!

Please be aware that as a young retiree, 65 and over, Swiss regulations make it hard for you to adopt a dog at your local Swiss animal shelter.

But, of course, we are open to all age groups!

Making Dogs Travel Ready

Our dogs are travel-ready when

♥  They have been lab tested for prevalent mediterranean illnesses, including heartworm.

♥  They are fully vaccinated, including rabies, according to Swiss regulation.

♥  They are kept safe until they leave, with gold-standard monthly parasite prevention medication.

♥  And because all the paperwork is in order and documented, they travel legally and in comfort to Switzerland, within the TRACES system.

♥   We do our very best for our dogs to have no hidden health secrets. Formal veterinary reports come along on the voyage, ready to be transmitted to your local vet.

There is never zero risk, of course, but the likelihood of excellent health is high: no unexpected hassle, no sorrow and no excruciatingly high veterinary bills!

Making a dog travel ready takes a minimum of 4 months.

Match-Making

We are sticklers about match-making!

Our preferred match-making: travel to Niš

Meet your prospective family member at Sasha’s Shelter, so that you can chose each other. This is the first step in ensuring that you will have a long and happy life together.

When you walk, feed and cuddle a dog for a good number of hours, there is a good chance that dog and human will fall in love with each other in a way that is not possible when choosing at distance.

Niš in South Serbia is unfortunately not next door, but there are direct flights from Geneva to Belgrade over the weekend, departing late Friday and returning Monday afteroon.

We are happy to be your travel agent and organise your voyage from A-Z! With a basic travel package, you would spend two full days at the shelter (Saturday and Sunday) getting to know all our Swiss travel-ready Sasha Dogs.

Did you know that Niš is the third biggest city in Serbia, and the birthplace to Constantine the Great (306 AC)? Constantine was the first Christian Roman Emperor and the founder of Constantinople.

Serbia is still virgin territory as far as tourists are concerned. If you like history, Southern Serbia reveals many stories about the peoples of the past, Roman, Slavic, Venetian, Byzantine, travelling the trade route through Niš on the way to Constantinople.

Choose at distance We accompany you during the whole selection process. We have two excellent dog behaviourists in our team who are by your side at every step.
Meet a Sasha dog at a Foster Home in Switzerland

Our Travel-Ready Darlings

This is Diki, a middle-sized male dog, born in January 2021..

We recommend you watch Diki’s little film which presents him in all sorts of situations at the Shelter. This is really a sweet and smart dog.

As you will discover in the film, it’s not surprising that Diki found has a foster home in the Nederlands, and now his foster parents want to keep him! :–)

(This is called a “failed foster”)

There are many more Sasha dogs, young and older, just like Diki!

We have now moved Diki from his own Facebook page to the joyful adopted page. Watch the film there.

Hello, I am Carlito Don Corleone

A lovely boy of a certain age (born March 2018), middle sized (42 cm)

I am told that I am a bit of a Ladies boy. I have a handsome head, muscular body and tight buttocks :–)

Like all of us here, I have my very own Facebook group with my life history and medical records. Please have a look!

Bonjour, my name is Crni Meda (Black Bear).

I am already a senior boy, born in February 2016, bigger sized (52 cm).

People around me say that I am a quiet boy.

I am also the very proud owner of my very own Facebook group with my life history and medical records. However modest, I have a life story too. Please look here!

Good day. I am Bora which means Wrinkle in Serbian. I am a male dog, born on 20th June 2014. My height is 48 cm.

Although I’m a bit older, those wrinkles are not that bad :–)

By the way, the green markings on my head indicate that I had been vaccinated that day.

Because of my age, I’m a bit calmer than I used to be. They say that I am sweet and affectionate. I have to admit to being a bit shy with new people, but if you give me just a little time I will be fine. As all the others on this page, I have my very own Facebook group. I am grateful if you had a look.

Hello Hello. I am Partizanovac which means Partisan in English. I am a middle-sized female dog, born on 20th November 2018. My height is 45 cm.

I was found together with my sisters when we were still little puppies. Sasha, bless him, welcomed the three of us in his shelter. Two of us survived. Since then, my lucky sister has been adopted.

I would so much love to find a home too. I love attention and feel comfortable with people and other dogs. Miki who looks after me together with Sasha says that I am cute :–) playful and not dominant.

Please watch the little film about me on my very own Facebook group.
